Did you know we don't use tape measures at Bravissimo? Instead we fit by eye as knowing how a bra should look and feel is the best way to find your most comfortable fit - here's how…
How do you know if your bra fits right?
1
How should your band fit?
Most of the support comes from the underband. It should be horizontal around your body without riding up or digging in. We recommend fastening a new bra on its loosest hooks so that you can tighten it if it stretches over time.
2
Where should the underwire of a bra sit?
The underwires in your bra should sit flat on your ribcage (not your boob!) all the way round to your armpits. The wires between your boobs should lie flat against your chest without digging in, rubbing or poking out.
3
How should a bra cup fit?
Make sure your boobs are fully in the cups – a bit of a scoop, wiggle and jiggle usually does the trick! You should fill the cups without any bulging or wrinkling even in a lower-cut style and there should be a smooth line, with no ridge, where the top and the side of the fabric ends.

I'm about to order my, I think, 6th bra in this style. I was shocked by the size numbering at my first fitting but hey, who else is going to look at the labelling. Fortunately I have not needed to return for further fittings - yet.
As with a few other reviews, I too have had the wiring poke through the fabric. I fixed this by sewing a piece of bias tape over the hole, but I do not recall how old the bras were when this happened. I'll keep a closer eye on the new one!

I've had a lot of Melrose bras over the years and I've always been really pleased with them - they have washed and worn really well. However, I bought two just 6 months ago and both have had problems with the wire on the right hand side of the bra, poking through. The wire then digs into my arm and makes the bra really uncomfortable to wear. Something must have changed for this to happen as I can see I'm not the only one who's had this problem.

Absolutely purrfect. This was a free bra and I absolutely love it. Fits very well, pretty and feminine but strong enough to do its job. Very comfortable and gives a good shape.
Thank you very very much.

I've been wearing the Melrose bras in all 3 colours almost exclusively ever since it was released by Bravissimo, and in recent years, despite careful handwashing the wires have started to poke through the material after a few weeks or months. I've raised the issue in-store before I bought my most recent set of 3 but the staff claimed they haven't changed the manufacturing at all over the years. Somehow, the quality of the material has dropped because the first few Melrose bras I owned lasted me for years, yet all the new ones have wires poking through. I'll be looking for a different style during my next shop which is a shame because this gives a great shape and support for a large bust with a small back.
Wow, I can finally wear a frilly bra!5 out of 5 stars

I have sensitive skin, and typically avoid anything with lace on. For years I wore the Serene bra which I found very comfortable, but recently I have gained weight due to hormonal issues, and the Serene bra sadly no longer suits me. I went for a fitting in the Guildford store and was initially put in Panache's Porcelain Elan bra. This was fine in the fitting room, but when I got home and tried to wear it, the wires dug in under my arm pits, it was quite painful actually, so I had to take in back to the store. I then went for another fitting, and the Melrose bra was one of many I tried, and the one I ended up taking home with me. Unlike Panache, the wires suit my body shape and do not dig in, the shape and fitting of the wires in this bra are very much like the Serene bra. I also like the fact that this bra has three hooks, I'm now a 34H and need three hooks to keep me in place. The straps are also nice and wide too, giving extra support, what is the point of having thin straps? Also, the lace is soft and doesn't irritate my skin. Well done Bravissimo, will be buying more in other colours.

I love this bra and will buy again but find it so frustrating that the wires poke through thin fabric. This is not just common to this bra, but so many underwired bras. Could thicker material be used at the entrance and exit points for the wire?
