Senior Software Engineer

Leamington Spa, Warwickshire

About Bravissimo

Bravissimo is a dynamic multi-channel retailer that provides lingerie, swimwear and clothing for women who are a D-L cup. We want big boobed women to feel amazing, inspired to celebrate their figures and feel good about themselves. We have a number of shops in the UK as well as a well-established ecommerce operation which accounts for 50% of the company’s turnover..

Whilst the business has grown, our purpose remains the same as it did in 1995, to inspire our customers to feel amazing about themselves. We set ourselves high standards and are constantly looking for ways to improve what we do to offer the best experience for our customers. Our people are at the heart of our business and for the last 13 years, we have been one of the Sunday Times Top 100 companies to work for.

We have some ambitious plans for the future, and we are looking for full stack engineers to join us and help us continue to craft a customer experience that we’re proud of.

About the role

We are looking for a senior systems engineer to join our agile team and help us to develop our ecommerce platform, this is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a sophisticated technology platform that handles over 60% of our orders annually

As we look to try and engage and excite our customers more, you will be a part of a passionate, skilled and experienced team. You can expect to use technologies like Node.js, JavaScript (React), RabbitMQ, RethinkDB and SQL Server, running primarily on AWS. The work is both technical and creative in nature and requires a blend of backend and frontend skills. We embrace a DevOps philosophy, using tools such as GitLab, Docker and Rancher.

You will get involved across the full lifecycle of features - design, implementation, testing, release, support and ongoing enhancements. You will also have a real voice to contribute your ideas and innovation to create growth and opportunity within the business.

We are open-minded and forward-looking, evaluating the best tool or technology for the job. We have regular tech talks where we discuss new technologies, approaches to delivery or specific snippets of code or libraries we’ve seen, we are all enthusiastic and passionate about the field we work in.

About you

You’ll be a competent and self-motivated software engineer, able to prove your skills and provide examples of commercial websites or applications you've contributed to; any retail experience would be of interest.

We don’t expect you to know all the technologies we use. What really matters is your ability to understand concepts quickly, work with fresh ideas in an agile environment and contribute as appropriate. We’re looking for someone passionate about technology, hungry to learn with us and also keen to share your findings internally and with the wider development community.

You will have a logical mind and good attention to detail, able to craft a polished product from design concepts provided. As we trade around the clock you will also need to provide occasional out-of-hours support.

As a good communicator, you'll be keen to get involved in discussions and debates and express your own views. Whenever you see room for improvement you won't be afraid to speak up, you'll readily ask questions, and understand how to use a variety of resources (e.g. Google/StackOverflow/Pluralsight) to help provide solutions. You will have your ear to the ground of the development community, keeping abreast of what’s going on.

Whilst your skills and experience are of interest to us, your mindset, understanding of our business purpose and learning agility are of equal importance.
