Diversity & Inclusion

Our Pledge and updates

We are committed to doing better to be more diverse as an organisation, representative of our Black community, and all of our wonderful Bravissimo community, and making an active stand against all forms of racism. This will be done through systemic change.

We will updating this page as we progress to be transparent and open in our actions, as you can read below…

Pride

Here at Bravissimo, we’re proud to support Pride! We recognise that there’s lots that we can all do to celebrate and represent LGBTQIA+ communities in June, but Pride is more than a month and we’re committed to supporting our LGBTQIA+ community every day of the year. We want to be very open and honest with you on what we’re doing, but we always welcome your thoughts on what more we can do better, so that we can continue to be inclusive and representative of our wonderfully diverse community at Bravissimo.

At Bravissimo, we recognise that our customers are individual, unique and not all the same (just like our boobs!) and we celebrate and support this. We welcome everyone into our shops and we don’t have a ‘one size fits all’ approach when it comes to our fitting rooms, we speak to all our customers as individuals to offer them the support and service that fits for them, whilst providing an inclusive and safe place to shop for all our teams and customers.

We amplified more LGBTQIA+ voices on our social channels in June by sharing the amazing work that Switchboard does as part of our ‘Lifting Up’ series, as well as making a donation to Switchboard too, you can find out more about Switchboard here: https://switchboard.lgbt/

As well as sharing content to educate our audience, we’ve been sharing resources and content that educates our internal teams too. We’re encouraging everyone to take the time this month to learn more about how we can become better allies to our LGBTQIA+ community.

We partnered with Switchboard to host a digital lunch and learn session for everyone at Bravissimo so we can become better LGBTQ+ allies and learn more about this history of LGBTQIA+ rights.

Launching: Lifting Up

June 2021 saw the launch of our new monthly series ‘Lifting Up’. ‘Lifting Up’ will be amplifying diverse voices and raising awareness for different causes each month on our social channels.

The purpose of this monthly spotlight is to support and uplift other women and to use our platform to shine a spotlight on different charities, organisations and social causes chosen by our community or our Diversity & Inclusion committee.

So far our customers helped us raise £4193 for Black Women Rising and £1000 for Switchboard! Go Bravissimo Girls!

Models & Imagery

We are committed to continue our focus on ensuring our models and imagery reflect and represent our diverse community.

Skin Tone Bras

We have focused on increasing the choice of skin tone bras in our product range and we are continuing this work so we can offer more choice for our community of big-boobed women.

We've signed up to the BRC Diversity & Inclusion charter

We are proud and excited to be one of the 55 retailers who have signed up to commit to the Better Jobs D&I Charter of the British Retail Consortium (BRC). Being inclusive, diverse and fair is something we're really passionate about at Bravissimo and this is one of the steps we are taking to build on our own diversity and inclusion. This is an important step for us, and for the retail industry as a whole.

The charter focuses on oversight, recruitment, progression, reporting, inclusivity and responsibility – helping retailers challenge their culture and biases holistically and embed D&I into every aspect of their business.

This information will help us focus on where change is needed, working with our formed Diversity & Inclusion committee, a team of 17 people across all areas of our business.

The Diversity & Inclusion committee is working to hold us all to account in supporting diversity and being more representative in all we do including, but not only: marketing and models, product ranging, recruitment and team diversity.

  • We have this page on our website where our teams and our customers can see data, actions, outcomes and progress as it’s made

  • Bras are no longer labelled under the term “nude” in any of our shops or online channels. These “skin tone bras” will now have a name appropriate to their shade – e.g. latte, cinnamon etc. We recognise this is a first step in a positive change to more representation of range, as we are working internally on longer term change with our branded suppliers to influence both language and the range of products/colours available for our customers

  • Some of our customers have asked what our policies and position on sustainability and supply chain are. Take a look at our commitment to being sustainable and modern slavery statement; like with all we do, we constantly review and update these.
